[ NOTES ]

Filthy Habits feels unearthed from a time capsule; Farewell To Freeway
take on metalcore is one thats been left behind by young bands mad
rush to be on that next shit at all times. These guys are still copping
moves from Botch, for hells sake. They pull a lot of other tricks, too,
of course, including hardcore-style gang-shout vocals; ultra-earnest
screams; melodic death-metal guitar riffs a la Shadows Fall or Darkest
Hour; some shrill, squealing guitar solos; and the occasional
floor-shaking breakdown, though they never deploy the concussive bass of
deathcore acts like Oceano. Whats most notable by its near-total
absence from their sound is electronics: no Auto-Tune, no vocoders, no
ravey synths, no techno beats. With only one exception (a one-finger
keyboard line to introduce Token Aint Weezy), these guys are strictly
guitar-bass-drums, and better for it. Their steadfastness is their
greatest virtue.
